8 Thrilling New Reads for Halloween

If ever there was a season to become obsessed with thrillers, it’s right now—late in the fall when we so acutely feel summer’s retreat and Halloween’s approach.

It’s the season of the witch and the season of ghost stories; the time for tales that send chills up our spine and have us racing to turn on just one more light.

There’s something exhilarating about the page-turning suspense and fearful anticipation we experience with tales of mystery, thriller and suspense. Maybe it’s the invigoration of being scared when we know we’re safe. Maybe it’s the challenge of guessing what happens next. And maybe it’s just that, as the shadows grow long in autumn, we begin to think we see things hiding in them.

These eight recent releases offer all of those seasonal thrills and a great story as well. So maybe you should turn on that extra light after all—pick up one of these books and things are going to seem just a little bit darker.

Trick or treat, readers.
