One of the best perks of working at a publishing house is getting a sneak peek (and, sometimes, read!) of new and upcoming releases. We checked in with our colleagues to ask them what books are on their fall reading list and they did not disappoint! Ranging from cozy mysteries, to time-travelling love stories, and everything in between, there’s something for everyone in this list.

Chance of a Lifetime by Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets is not your typical rich girl meets bad boy story – it’s an epic romance that alters the fate of these lovers & everyone around them. Centuries later, Fate really isn’t happy that his plans were waylaid, so he gives Liam (that’s our protagonist) a choice to make things right in the present day or risk eternal damnation. But of course, as is the case with all great love stories, not all goes to plan…nor does it help that Liam and Cora are inexplicably drawn to each other, again.

The book I am most excited to read this fall is The Dazzling Truth by Helen Cullen. I love relationship stories and I am particularly excited to read stories set in far off places right now—armchair travel is my jam during lockdown. I’m excited for Daughters of the Wild by Natalka Burian! When I read the description, it mentioned 3 of my favorite books (The Water Cure by Sophie Macintosh, The Power by Naomi Alderman, and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath), so I knew that I had to read it. I am itching to read Marion Lane and the Midnight Murder by T.A. Willberg. It’s not everyday you get to read a fun cozy mystery starring a bookseller turned female detective. I love the idea of a small detective agency in post-war London with gadgets and gizmos and a frame job to solve. Set My Heart to Five by Simon Stephenson
One book that I’ve had my eye on this fall is Set My Heart to Five by Simon Stephenson. I was certainly intrigued when I first read the premise (a humanlike bot on the quest for love!). Throw in comparisons to Fredrik Backman and Gail Honeyman and I’m sold. This book sounds like the perfect escape from the scary reality we’re facing and I have a feeling I’ll get big, heartwarming WALL-E vibes from it. I’m most excited to read Christmas at Holiday House by RaeAnne Thayne. I love the stories and characters she writes and the worlds she builds.
